Mentoring plays a critical role in the development of human capital and human resources, which are the most important elements creating competitive advantage in today's organizations. Mentoring is a development-oriented process in which an experienced individual (mentor) shares knowledge, expertise, and energy with a less experienced employee (mentee) to support their personal and professional growth, performance, and organizational adaptation. Originating from Greek mythology, this concept became widespread in management literature starting in the late 1970s and encompasses two primary functions: career development and psychosocial support. Implemented in organizations through formal or informal methods, mentoring includes various types such as one-on-one, peer, group, reverse, self-mentoring, and e-mentoring. According to the model developed by Kram, the relationship unfolds across four main phases: initiation, cultivation, separation, and redefinition. Executing a successful mentoring program depends on accurately analyzing organizational needs, establishing clear goals, ensuring appropriate mentor-mentee matching, building mutual trust, and fostering willing participation from both parties. In conclusion, mentoring serves as a strategic tool that contributes to individual career advancement while supporting organizational learning, productivity, and the cultivation of future leaders.
