In this study, microtremor measurements were conducted at night at 140 points in the densely populated Kazımdirik, Ergene, and Erzene neighborhoods of Bornova district in İzmir province, located in a 1st-degree earthquake zone, as well as on the Ege University campus, using a SARA-SR04 device with a 100 Hz sampling interval. The collected data were analyzed using GEOPSY software and the Nakamura (HVSR) technique to determine the dynamic ground properties of shallow layers, dominant ground frequencies (0.1–2.0 Hz), and peak periods (1–4 s). According to the analysis results, high frequencies and low periods were obtained in Ergene, northern Kazımdirik, and northwestern Erzene due to the proximity of limestone to the surface and the presence of slightly altered units, indicating solid ground characteristics. In contrast, low frequencies and high periods were measured in the southern regions (Ege University Campus and its surroundings) where alluvium and slope debris dominate, pointing to weak ground quality. Additionally, soft layer thicknesses (0–150 m), Vs (100–380 m/s) and Vp (300–550 m/s) wave velocities, and Poisson's ratios (0.2–0.3) were calculated and compared with DSI borehole data. Comparing the periods of 5–7 story buildings in the area (0.25–0.35 s) with the dominant ground periods revealed sensitive zones in terms of construction that carry resonance risks during potential earthquakes and require detailed risk studies.
